Helping teens transition from school to the workforce requires more than just academic success. It takes real-world experiences, hands-on skill-building, and mentorship to help them navigate career choices and financial independence. At Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina, we provide the tools and support to ensure teens are workforce-ready and confident in their future.
A competitive job market means teens must start preparing early. Workforce development programs teach them essential skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership—qualities that employers value in any profession. Career exploration opportunities expose them to different industries, helping them identify their passions and set achievable goals. Financial literacy is another critical component, ensuring they understand budgeting, saving, and responsible financial decision-making. Additionally, these programs instill confidence, independence, and the ability to navigate job applications, interviews, and workplace expectations.
At Boys & Girls Clubs, workforce readiness is integrated into daily programming. Some of the key programs that help prepare our teens for success include:
- CareerLaunch – Providing hands-on career exploration, resume building, interview preparation, and workplace skills to ensure they enter the workforce with confidence.
- diplomas2Degrees (d2D) – Providing teens set academic and career goals, explore college options, and create a plan for their future success.
- Money Matters: Make It Count – Teaches financial literacy through budgeting, saving, and investing, ensuring they develop strong money management habits.
- Junior Staff Program – Gives teens real-life work experience by allowing them to take on leadership roles within the Club, helping mentor younger members while learning professional skills.
Beyond structured programs, our Clubs provide leadership roles and hands-on learning experiences that allow teens to apply their skills in meaningful ways. Whether it’s mentoring younger members, participating in service projects, or taking part in workforce training, these experiences help teens gain confidence and prepare for life beyond high school.
Preparing for the workforce is about more than getting a job—it’s about building a future filled with opportunity and success. Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina are committed to helping every teen realize their full potential, ensuring that when they step into the workforce, they do so with confidence and purpose.
