We believe in empowering our youth to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals. One of our shining examples is Serenity, a dedicated member of our Brigade Campus Teen Center and an active participant in our Workforce Development Program. Serenity’s journey is a testament to the impact of perseverance, passion, and the power of community support.
Serenity has been a part of our Club for several years, and during that time, she has grown from a young girl with a love for basketball into a determined young woman with clear goals for her future. Her passion for basketball is evident to anyone who meets her. She has been playing the sport for many years, honing her skills on the court with the dream of one day earning a basketball scholarship to play at the collegiate level.
But Serenity’s aspirations don’t stop there. She envisions a future where she can turn her love for basketball into a career, either as a professional player or a coach. Her ultimate goal is to move out of Wilmington and establish herself in a career that not only fulfills her passions but also allows her to give back to others by sharing her knowledge and experience.
One impactful experience for Serenity has been her participation in our Workforce Development Program. This program is designed to give Club teens the opportunity to explore their interests and passions while gaining real-world work experience. For Serenity, this has meant taking on responsibilities such as working in the kitchen, helping to supervise younger Club members, and assisting with various operational tasks around the Club. These experiences have not only helped her develop employability skills but have also given her a taste of what it means to be a leader and a role model—qualities that will serve her well as she pursues her goal of becoming a coach.
We are so proud of Serenity and all that she has accomplished. We are committed to standing by her side as she continues to work towards her dreams. Whether it’s through offering opportunities to sharpen her basketball skills, teaching her the values of character and leadership, or providing her with work experience through our workforce development program, we are here to support Serenity every step of the way.
