Each spring, the streets of Wilmington come alive with color, music, and joy as the Azalea Festival takes center stage. For our club members, this year’s festival wasn’t just something to watch—it was something to be a part of. From parades to dancing with royalty, the excitement and energy of the festival found its way directly into our Clubs in the most memorable ways.

One of the highlights of the week was a special visit from the Azalea Festival Queen, Bethany Joy Lenz, and her court. Our Clubs welcomed them with open arms—and dancing feet! Club members and royalty alike joined in for group dances that lit up the room with laughter and energy. It was a beautiful moment where joy and connection took center stage, showing the power of community and celebration.

The visit didn’t stop at dancing. Club members split into smaller groups to participate in fun activities alongside the court, from sidewalk chalk masterpieces to friendly games and creative arts and crafts. One of our own members had the honor of greeting the Queen at the door, proudly representing the Club with warmth and confidence. It was a day that made our members feel seen, celebrated, and included in a tradition so meaningful to Wilmington.

To cap off the week, our Club members were invited to be part of the Azalea Festival Parade—a true highlight! Marching through the streets, waving to the crowds, and soaking in the cheers, our kids felt the magic of being part of something bigger than themselves. Experiences like these leave lasting memories and remind us how important it is to connect our youth to their community. We’re grateful to the Azalea Festival for making our Clubs feel like royalty too.
