21st Century Community Learning Center Grant

21st Century Grant

In partnership with Duplin County Schools and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina, the after school program will be available with no fees or cost to the participants.

Duplin County Schools and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern North Carolina (BGCSENC) have partnered to provide the 21st CCLC after school program free of charge to all participating families.

The 21st CCLC after school program is funded through North Carolina Department of Instruction and provides high-quality, hands-on academic support through tutoring, homework assistance, literacy, and STEAMA, as well as personal enrichment through arts, Health & Nutrition, Physical fitness, and social, emotional learning. Tutoring sessions are taught by North Carolina certified teachers or teacher assistants to help students who are struggling to meet the academic expectations for their grade level. Academic and enrichment lessons are provided by BGCSENC’s proven successful curriculum resources, reinforce and complement regular school day academics, and align with state standards.

Daily student attendance during scheduled hours is a strict requirement. Arriving more than 10 minutes late or being picked up early count as absences, as they prevent the child from receiving the full benefit of the program. Students are allowed a maximum of 9 absences per quarter. We don’t accept excuse notes unless a student has an extended illness that keeps them out for more than 2 days in a row. Only in that instance will we accept a doctor’s note and count the extended absences as one absence.

We are required to maintain 70% student attendance or the NCDPI may reduce our funding or cancel the program.
Students are allowed 9 absences per quarter.

Pickup starts at 6:30 PM and you should arrive at that time. Any student picked up after 6:45 will be marked as a late pick-up. After three late pick-ups your child will be removed from the program. Please be respectful of our staff by picking up your child in a timely fashion and contacting your Unit Director as soon as you know that you will be running late.

You may register your child at https://parentportal.bgcsenc.org/

Please speak with the Unit Director at your child’s Club site if transportation is needed.
